House Rules
These will be expanded and elaborated upon, don't worry ;). 1. Treat everyone with respect, even if you think they are the most wrong-headed, ignorant jackanape you have ever had the misfortune of meeting! 8) 2. Present your viewpoint clearly. An example of a non-clear response would be, "because that's the way it's always been!" Quite frankly, that's just not very helpful in making someone else understand anything. 3. This is a friendly house. All are welcomed equally as friends -- with a few non-negotiable exceptions. Those NOT welcome here include: Hate-spewing individuals Bigots, liars and thieves Individuals who tout intolerance as an apparent lifestyle choice Pornography links, solicitations, etc. 4. Everyone is welcomed to post news stories, announcements, etc. in the appropriate category. We'd rather you not advertise your private business endlessly, but a mention or url in your signature is fine. And if your business happens to be running a special - for the holidays, perhaps - feel free to post a thread with the details (small discount for My House members would be nice  ). BUT this is not a free advertising mecca - it is a pleasant discussion & visiting forum. 5. If you believe you have been treated unfairly, you have every right, opportunity and encouragement to speak with Admin or a Moderator privately through the pm system. 6. All we really ask is that you don't abuse the site, the pm system or your fellow visitors. This is what happens if you decide to 'break' the rules: Behaviour such as listed above as unwelcome will warrant a public warning first. (The exception to this will be pornographic- or abuse-related solicitations. There is a zero-tolerance policy.) We all have certain issues about which we are very passionate, and sometimes we lose focus on civility and the fact that others may not believe the same way. If you insist on exhibiting disrespect to other friends in the House, your account will be suspended. You will be notified by pm of the duration of the suspension (the duration will reflect a cooling down time only and will be set to reflect the seriousness of the infraction). Your IP is noted, and changing IPs obviously does not change bad behaviour! Third strike, you're out.
