"Designer" look veggies in your area
Since we're flung far and wide all over the place, I thought I'd ask a question or three of you guys. Yesterday I received a couple seed catalogues. Usually, I plant heirloom veggies because of their superior (to me) taste and the ability to save the seed. Of course, I perused the booklets with next year's garden in mind. My question is this: have you noticed any sort selling better at farmer's markets or stores based on the look? To clarify, there are tomatoes that are striped, that are so dark a red as to be almost black, that stay green even when ripe, etc. All these are heirlooms. Have you bought or know anyone who has bought the more unusual veggies because of the way they look - because they were 'different' or 'wild looking', etc?
